THE Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity is asking communities across Cornwall to put the kettle on for a good cause.
The inaugural Great Cornish Cuppa & Cake event will take place on Friday, June 26 — a feel‑good fundraiser that aims to help fund the vital extras NHS budgets don’t cover.
Every gathering - from small kitchen‑table tea parties to bustling workplace coffee mornings, village hall bake sales and even high tea by Zoom - will raise crucial funds to support care at the trust’s three hospitals: Treliske in Truro, St Michael’s in Hayle and West Cornwall in Penzance.
All donations will go towards the little extras that lift spirits, enhance care and make a real difference to patients, families and staff. These include specialist equipment, enhanced treatments and better support services for patients; wellbeing spaces, training and mental health resources for hardworking NHS teams; art, gardens, comfortable seating and thoughtful touches that make hospital stays easier for both patients and families; and pioneering projects that lead to better treatments and outcomes for patients.
Ways to participate include hosting - prospective organisers will be sent a handy guide with lots of helpful tips and tools; checking into an event locally (or even virtually); creating a fundraising page, or simply donating directly for those who aren’t in a position to attend in person. Can’t make June 26? Other dates are permissible.
Fundraising manager Karen Murrish said: “Every slice sold, every cuppa poured and every pound raised helps us provide the very best care for people here in Cornwall. Bring your friends, colleagues or neighbours together for a day of bakes, brews and big-hearted giving.”
