A FREE sunrise walk will take place at the National Trust property of Trelissick, near Truro, on Friday (May 15) to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week (May 11 to 17).

The event will take place in collaboration with Cornwall Mind, is teaming up an independently registered charity supporting people experiencing mental health problems, providing recovery focused services and activities throughout the county.

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is “action”, and visitors will have the chance to watch the new day begin from the terrace of Trelissick’s manor house before taking a gentle, restorative walk through the garden and woodland.

“The walk is a chance to embrace the sunrise, breathe in the fresh morning air and give your wellbeing a gentle boost,” says Lucy Chappell, community engagement and giving co‑ordinator for Cornwall Mind.

Vicky Whittaker, Trelissick’s community, participation and volunteering manager, added: “Being outdoors and spending time in nature is so important for our wellbeing. We’re delighted to be teaming up with Cornwall Mind to raise awareness for such an important cause and to welcome a new day with the sunrise.”

Advanced booking is essential and tickets are available from www.nationaltrust.org.uk/trelissick.

The event is one of several physical and mental wellbeing activities taking place at Trelissick this year. In partnership with Cornwall Arthritis Trust, free accessible walks will take place on May 20, June 24 and September 16, while ‘freedom to move’ Pilates sessions will run on May 12, June 2 and 30, July 7, September 8 and September 22. Sessions will cost £6 and are bookable by emailing [email protected].

An outdoor yoga session will also take place on Sunday (May 17) delivered by Cornwall‑based practitioner Millie Briggs of Apricity Yoga, encouraging mindful movement in nature. Tickets are available from www.apricityyoga.com.
