THE Filo Project, a not-for-profit social enterprise providing high-quality day care for people living with dementia in paid hosts’ homes, is recruiting more hosts across Cornwall.

There is a particular need in St Austell and Truro to meet rising local demand from families.

The Filo Project supports people with early to moderate dementia through small, home-based groups that offer warmth, routine and meaningful social interactions. Each group spends the day in the home of a trained, paid host, who also collects and returns clients back to their own homes.

This homely environment and smaller group set-up helps people with dementia feel safe, valued and less isolated, while families benefit from reliable, day-long respite.

There are an estimated 10,000 people living with dementia in Cornwall. With more families in Cornwall seeking personalised support, The Filo Project is looking for more hosts who can offer up

to two days a week from their own home.Hosts come from a wide range of backgrounds, including former carers, teachers, nurses, occupational therapists, early retirees and people seeking fulfilling part-time work that makes a tangible difference in their community.

Clinical or professional care experience is not required. What matters most is warmth, patience and the ability to create a welcoming environment. Hosts receive full training, ongoing support and are well-paid employees, not volunteers.

Libby Price, Co-Founder and CEO of The Filo Project, said: “Our hosts create a warm, familiar day where people with dementia feel genuinely seen and included. If you enjoy the company of older people and want rewarding, flexible work please get in touch.”
