A golfing group from Holywell Bay has ‘chipped in’ £1,000 to support two good causes.
Tregew Golf Society, which plays at Holywell Golf, has donated £500 to Cornwall Air Ambulance and £500 to the Sunrise Appeal.
Men’s captain, Bob Girvan, and the ladies captain, Sue Sandys, presented the cheques to Priscilla and Judith from the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and Janet Shephard from the Sunrise Appeal. The money was raised from competitions dedicated to charity, which is boosted by a raffle and the “voluntary” donations to the fines jar.
Steve Burstow from Tregew said: “The amount collected, about £750 each year, is donated to a charity chosen by the members at the AGM. This year members could not choose between them and so decided to gift both of these worthwhile charities; Sunrise because of its 25th anniversary and the great work it does and air ambulance simply because, in view of the average age of our members, we might need it someday.”
