A SERIES of organised events for children are due to take place in St Austell’s parks in July.

The after-school park games will be staged in six parks across two weeks.

Giant garden games and play equipment will be provided for the events between July 7 and July 17.

The events are being organised and funded by St Austell Town Council and facilitated by Young People Cornwall.

The first event will be at Bethel Park, off Bucklers Lane, on Monday, July 7, between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. This will be followed on Wednesday, July 9, with a two-hour session starting at 3.30pm in Truro Road Park.

The following day, Thursday, July 10, the fun will move on to Woodland Road Park, again beginning at 3.30pm and running until 5.30pm.

The next session will be held on Monday, July 14, at the Meadows open space, off Boscoppa Road, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

The fifth event will run on Wednesday, July 16, between 3.30pm and 5.30pm at the top of Linear Park.

The final session will be held on the following day, Thursday, July 17, at Poltair Park from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Children will be able to take part in giant snakes and ladders, giant Jenga and giant Connect 4. There will be throwing and catching games, group games and races, and football games. Space hoppers, wobble boards, hula hoops and basketball equipment will also be provided.

The town council has bought the giant games and a trailer to support such events. The games proved popular at the council’s Easter Fun Day event in Poltair Park.

A video with details about the games sessions planned for July has been posted on the town council’s Facebook page.

The council owns and manages 17 parks and open spaces in the town.
