PENZANCE-BASED distillery Pocketful of Stones has teamed up with the Golowan Festival to offer welcome drinks and a programme of entertainment on Saturday, November 8, in support of securing a permanent home for the beloved community celebration.
For over 35 years, Golowan has brought the streets of Penzance to life with music, dance, fire rituals, and giant imagery, reviving the ancient traditions of the Feast of St. John and the Summer Solstice.
But rising rents have made the current headquarters unsustainable, threatening the future of Cornwall’s largest heritage street festival.
To safeguard Golowan’s long-term future, funds are being raised to purchase a dedicated building in the heart of Penzance. This new space will house the festival team, store decades of materials, host workshops, and welcome the community year-round.
Director Alan Shepherd said: “At this critical time for the Golowan Festival, as we seek to move to a permanent home in Penzance and create a community festival hub for the town, the support of everyone with Golowan in their hearts is vital.”
“The wonderful support from Pocketful of Stones by dipping into their pockets and hosting our GoFundMe fundraising day in and around their premises in Causewayhead on Saturday, November 8 is massively appreciated.”
The team at Pocketful of Stones shares this commitment to community.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Pocketful of Stones,” said owner Shaun Bebington.

“In a world that all too often sees us divided, Golowan brings us closer together, reminds us who we are, what we share, and what we can achieve as a community, it allows us to become something greater than ourselves.”
Nadine Tonner, strategic development officer, said: “We’re calling on the community to help root Golowan in Penzance for generations to come. Whether through a donation or by raising a glass, every gesture strengthens and supports our vibrant community.”
The fundraising campaign runs through winter, with more events and performances planned at other venues to rally support.
