Congregation members from Mousehole Methodist Church are planning a fundraising day to help boost their restoration appeal.

It takes place, from 11am-7pm, this Saturday in the Sunday School rooms, with various craft stalls, refreshments, a raffle, tombola and Santa’s grotto.

There will also be an exhibition depicting the history of the church and the former Mount Zion Church, which is now a private house.

The church, the oldest of its kind in Cornwall, is suffering with dry rot and needs thousands of pounds of repairs.

The Sunday School building looks likely to be sold off to help raise money and other events are being planned to boost the coffers.

On Sunday, there will be an open air carol service, weather permitting, in the afternoon which is being led by Katherine Baxter, resident lay preacher.

And on December 22, there will be more carols in the upper room of the Sunday School from 6pm with an opportunity to choose a favourite while enjoying punch and a mince pie.
