A Trewoon church is arranging a flower festival to celebrate its grand re-opening.
Trinity Methodist Church is staging “Our Cornish Community” themed flower festival between Friday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
Floral Arrangements are being created by talented local people and groups at the event, which will be free to attend.
A ribbon cutting ceremony and a short dedication ceremony will be held to mark the reopening of the church and start of the flower festival led by Reverend Paul Benney will be held on Friday at 10am.
The church has been closed since February following urgent renovation work being undertaken.
The west wall has been replastered and painted with external lighthouse paint. The church has been recarpeted throughout and repainted.
The congregation met at St John’s Methodist Church during the closure.
The church’s new lease of life started with a day of prayer on Monday, September 4. Patricia Merryfield from Trinity Methodist Church said: “Trinity now enters a new lease of life and hopes to draw its community closer to it.
“Plans are being made to restart the popular coffee mornings soup lunches and it is open to suggestions for further community projects.”
The church will be open between 10am and 4pm to view the flower display.
Coffee and Light Lunches will be served on Friday and Saturday. Donations will be will be split between Trinity Chapel and ‘Team Trewoon’ Community Association.
Sunday there will be a café church at 10.30pm led by John Keast. A very informal service where tea/ coffee and biscuits are served during the service.
The Church will then close and re-open from 2pm and 6pm. The Festival will close with an evening service at 6pm led by Reverend Paul Benney.
An under-18 children’s flower display competition titled “My Cornish Footprint.”
Children are being challenged to make a floral display in old footwear. Any type can be used from a boot to a flip flop
All entries to be brought to Trinity Chapel Trewoon, on Thursday, September 7. The Church will be open until 7pm. The children’s entries will be judged on Friday.
