A CLASSIC car that was displayed in the Blitz exhibition at Flambards Theme Park for over 40 years will come up for auction at the end of May.

The 1930 Austin Seven Tourer will be the centrepiece of Lodge and Thomas’ Antiques and Fine Art sale on May 28 and 29 at its saleroom on Newquay Road, Truro (next to the cattle market).

Purchased by Ivan Kessell of Kessell’s Volvo in 1978, the vehicle was restored and its colour changed from maroon to yellow before being loaned for display at Flambards in Helston from the early 1980s, where it remained until November 2024. The car was one of very few items not to be sold immediately after the park’s closure.

The Austin is offered for sale direct from the family after long-term ownership and is presented in good condition throughout, although it should be noted that it has been off the road for over four decades and will require some sympathetic restoration and all usual safety checks before being driven.

This delightful little 'Seven' (registration Z 3544, chassis number 107497) is eligible for vintage events and comes accompanied by an RF60 buff log book recording the original engine number as M1-10836 (it’s now M 85879), an old style V5c and a 1983 MOT Certificate.

The car will be sold at auction on Friday, May 29. The auction starts at 10am, and the car is lot 1200 with a guide price of £6,000 to £8,000.

All prospective bidders are advised to satisfy themselves as to the condition and completeness of this lot before bidding. Free viewings are available on the preceding Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, or prior to this in saleroom opening hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).
