Prime Cattle
A very short entry as to be expected for the last market of 2025, although a quality lot of cattle forward.
Topping at 372p/kg (£2,656) for a smart 714kg Limousin x steer from Mr H Eddy of Tehidy, Camborne, with his other 746kg Limo steer at 370p/kg (£2,760) and another pair of Limousin steers from the same stable at 340p/kg (£2,564) and 338p/kg (£2,964).
A lone 682kg Limousin heifer from Messrs C D & S C Rodda of Crantock, Newquay parted away at 310p/kg (£2,114).
Cull Cows
A seasonally light entry for the final market before Christmas, but a firm trade seen again.
Top price of 286p/kg for a Shorthorn cow from Mr R J Trezise of Morvah, Penzance, followed by a good Limousin cow from Messrs C D & S C Rodda of Crantock, Newquay at 284p/kg and a Limousin cow from Mr Trezise realised 261p/kg.
Dairy types to 260p/kg for the best Friesian cow from Neil Rowe Farming Ltd of The Lizard, Helston, with their other Friesian cow at 245p/kg and a Friesian from Messrs L Wherry & Son of Sancreed, Penzance at 232p/kg thereafter.
Store Cattle
A lean entry in advance of the Christmas break, which saw steers topping at £1,670 on behalf of Messrs T F Vague & Son of Stithians, Truro.
Neil Rowe Farming Ltd of The Lizard, Helston sold a 2yr old steers to £1,520, £1,340 & £1,260, with Mr C Tonkin of Luxulyan, Bodmin marketing 1½ yr old steers to £1,450 & £1,360.
A quality consignment of younger steers in from Messrs S A & B M Bennett & Son of Hewaswater, St Austell topped at £1,300, whilst a bunch of half a dozen 9 m.o.
Blues from Sixty Acres Ltd of Truro parted at £1,045. Dearest heifers to £1,540 on behalf of Neil Rowe Farming Ltd of The Lizard, Helston followed by Mr C Tonkin of Luxulyan, Bodmin at £1,450 and Messrs Bennetts & Son at £1,315.
Rearing Calves
A cracking entry of calves forward this week, with a fierce trade for all on offer and a ringside packed full of active buyers.
A stunning month-old Charolais bull calf in from Messrs B & J Bailey of Veryan, Truro flew away to claim the top price of £645, followed by a strong month-old Simmental bull calf from Messrs A D & J A Bray of St Martin, Helston at £630.
A second same-age Charolais bull calf from Messrs Bailey traded at £535 and the best Limousin bull from Messrs Bray tied at the same money.
Strong Blue bulls to £500 from Messrs R, N W G & P J Worden of Gunwalloe, Helston and Angus bulls topped thereafter with a classy animal from Messrs A G Cave & Son of Rame, Penryn at £485.
Further monthold Limo bulls from Messrs Bray at £480, which was tied with Messrs C J & P H George of Tresillian, Truro with their best Blue bull at the same money and the top Hereford bull of the day from Mr V M Moyle of Halvasso, Penryn at £435.
Heifers to £525 for a strong month-old Blue from Messrs Bray, with a pair of Charolais heifers from Messrs Bailey at £505 and £500, and a Blue heifer from Messrs Worden at £440 tied with yet another Blue heifer from Messrs Bray at the same money.
Only two older calves on offer this week, both from Messrs R N & D Jenkin of Manaccan, Helston, with their Blue steer away at £590 and their Angus heifer at £455.
Prime Lambs
A decent entry for the last market of 2025 and improved averages on the week.
Topping at £165 for a cracking pair of 62kg butchers lambs from Mr S Greaves of Rose, purchased by J V Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station.
Setting the premium to 341p/kg were a smart pen of meaty handy-weights from Mr S McLernon of Portscatho, also sold to J V Richards Ltd.
Cull Ewes
An improved entry on the week, with some fantastic top prices, which are a credit to vendors.
Texels leading the way this week with a stand-out ewe from Messrs C R Elliott & Partners of Portloe, Truro selling to £200.50 for the best of their quality run, with further pens of Texels and Texel x to £193, £157, £150 and £147.
Further Texels to £187 for Messrs T B & M B Osborne of St Eval, Wadebridge, and a pen of big Texel x Dorset ewes from Mr W F Teagle of Trevithick, Newquay selling to £169, and other Texel x ewes from Mr G W Coon of Mevagissey, St Austell to £144.
A quality entry of Charollais x Texel ewes from Messrs W J Hicks & Son of St Merryn, Padstow saw the best selling to £186.50 with other pens to £173 and £167.
Big bodied North of England mule ewes to £139.50, £138 and £135, again for Mr Coon, and £130 for Mr S Bucknell of Kestle Mill, Newquay.
Rams to £179 and £150 for big bodied Wethers from Mr S J Greaves of Rose, Truro and £146 for a Texel from Mr B Bucknell of Kestle Mill, Newquay.
Store Sheep
Fewer numbers this week, although a fast trade from start to finish, topping at £138 for a heavy pair from Miss S Trewern of Praze, Camborne.
Good pens forward from Mr C Allen of Penwithick, St Austell, realising £126, £120 twice and £116, whilst Mr P McNulty of St Dennis, St Austell sold a good single to £118.
Mr L Burnett of Par, St Austell sold unscanned, in lamb ewes to £170, £169 & £167.
