FANS turned out to cheer on the Lionesses bring home the UEFA Women’s Euro trophy for a second consecutive year.

More than 500 people watched the historic match on a giant LED screen at Newquay Football Club on Mount Wise on Sunday afternoon.

The community came together in full voice to support the national side, transforming the stadium into a sea of red and white as the Lionesses defeated world champions Spain in a tense penalty shoot-out.

The free-to-attend fan zone was hosted by WAX Sports Bar with all proceeds from ticket donations gifted to support Newquay AFC’s women’s team.

Scott Trayner, a volunteer at the event, said: “It’s brilliant to see the club being used like this outside of matchdays.

“Events like this bring the community together and showcase how sport can unite people.”
