Newquay Community Fire Station is organising lots of family fun at its open day being held today.

Various activities have been organised at its headquarters in Tregunnel Hill including games, refreshments, face painting and live music. Youngsters have the opportunity to have a look around a fire engine and try on all the gear.

Firefighters will be showcasing their skills with aerial ladder platform and road traffic collision live demonstrations throughout the day.

Other emergency services who operate alongside the fire service are attending the open day to highlight what they do, which include Cornwall Council’s Tri-Service and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Money raised throughout the day will be donated to The Firefighter Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
