THE Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have announced that next month’s Fireworks Night Display event in Falmouth will not be going ahead.

Traditionally organised by Falmouth Fire Station, the annual event was set to take place on Bonfire Night (Wednesday, November 5). A firm favourite on the town calendar, the show brings families and friends together to enjoy an evening of fireworks while supporting local charities and community groups.

However, following discussions with multiple agencies, the fire service confirmed that it became clear that the event could not be delivered to the standard of safety and organisation that the community would expect.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We know how much this event means to the people of Falmouth and the surrounding area. Its absence this year will certainly be felt.

“The organising team is committed to working with partners to bring the display back in the future. We’d like to thank everyone for their understanding, patience and continued support.

“If you are celebrating Bonfire Night with fireworks or sparklers at home, please keep yourself and your loved ones safe by following the advice on the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service website.”
