Thousands turned out to celebrate the 24th Falmouth Pride today (Saturday, April 25), with the 50m Cornwall Pride flag paraded through town from The Moor to Events Square.
Cornwall Pride chief executive Matthew Kenworthy Gomes urged the colourful crowd to “be who you want to be, love who you want to love, and work towards a hate-free Cornwall”.

Deputy mayor Cllr Tom Pearce addressed the throng on Discovery Quay: “Pride is an important event for me, because in 1978, my uncle helped organised the first ever Pride event in Sydney, Australia … 48 years later, it’s amazing that we can come together in Falmouth to march through the town and enjoy solidarity.”
The procession was led by members of Trans Pride Falmouth, who will host a dedicated event on Saturday, May 23.
