NATURE enthusiasts were buzzing after spotting a rare butterfly during a wildlife outing around Perran Sands and Penhale Sands.

The Connect with Nature group saw 15 Grizzled Skipper, which is the only place the species can be found in Cornwall.

They also spotted 13 other species of butterfly, which included Dingy Skippers, Brown Argus, Common Blues, Painted Ladies, Walls, Red Admirals, Peacocks, Speckled Woods, Small Coppers, Orange Tips, Green-veined Whites, Large Whites and Small Whites.

The sighting of a rare, mat-forming perennial with pink or white flower heads called Mountain Everlasting was the icing on the cake for the nine nature enthusiasts who took part in the trip.
