AN interactive talk with demonstrations with Henry Austwick from Swashbuckling Cornwall is taking place at The Poly in Falmouth on Thursday, June 12.

Learn how sailors of the Royal Navy armed themselves for combat before and during the Napoleonic Wars.

Battles onboard ships during the age of sail were a bloody and brutal affair, which required a wide range of weapons to keep the flag raised at the stern.

Whether a naval vessel, packet ship or merchantman, all need to defend themselves on the high seas. Following the talk there will be chance to take a closer look at some of the weapons.

Suitable for 12 and over. Includes discussion about violence.
