SINGER-SONGWRITER Roo Panes, whose melodic, story-telling tracks have featured in the Grey’s Anatomy, Virgin River, This is Us and Outer Banks shows, will be St Ia Church’s headline attraction at this year’s St Ives September Festival.
Roo, who heads the list of eight shows announced by St Ia Church, will be followed by indi folk pop band Just Like Clay, St Ives-born Molly Hocking who won ITV’s The Voice in 2019, Cornwall shanty group Bryher’s Boys, Bailey Tomkinson and The Locals, Karnos Brass Band, ska tribute band Rudi’s Message and the Celtic Male Ensemble choir who will be hoping for a third successive St Ia full house as the close the 15-day Festival on Saturday, September 27.
Roo has built a truly impressive career on his own terms, gradually creating a constantly-evolving global fanbase with sold out shows and millions of streams worldwide, leading to the creation of the impressive body of work that culminates with his beautiful fourth album The Summer Isles.
His two shows at London’s St Pancras Old Church in June have already sold out and in November he will be embark on a European tour which will take him to Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, Polish capital Warsaw, Rubigen in Switzerland and Austrian capital Vienna.
He will be going to church in St Ives on September 13 as part of a “super Saturday” Festival opening night which also includes The Countrymen at St Ives Theatre following their 2022 Festival debut with Cornish singer-songwriter Will Keating and award-winning banjo player John Dowling at the town’s Arts Club.
