THE first wave of community entertainment being staged in Newquay during the summer is set to hit.
Newquay Town Council has organised a live music line-up including Chris Hogg and The Qwest and The Poptastic Party Show, which will perform at the Summer Sessions being held at the Killacourt on Saturday, July 4 between 10am and 6pm.
The Poptastic Party Show is a tribute to Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan.
The event will also be supported by a live broadcast from Radio Newquay, with part of the show coming live from the Killacourt.
The session is free to attend, with no tickets required. Visitors can enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere throughout the day, with a licensed bar available on site.
The event takes place alongside a full day of activity in town, coinciding with the BIG Newquay Market, running from 10am to 4pm across the Killacourt and Bank Street, and the Newquay Carnival, which begins from 6pm.
Ahead of the peak summer season, Newquay Town Council will use the day to highlight summer and beach safety, working alongside local services, charities and activity providers to share key messages.
Visitors will be encouraged to enjoy our town and coastline responsibly, with simple guidance to help everyone stay safe.
Alan Cox, RNLI water safety officer for Newquay Lifeboats, said: “I think it is very important to engage with families, especially visitors who don’t quite understand the dangers on and around the sea and beach.
“After a lot of recent events, which have ended badly, I urge the public just to pop to the water safety stall for some free advice on cold water shock, our float to live campaign, and beach safety.
“This messaging could save your life, not just for beachgoers, but everyone from swimmers to SUPs and kayakers, please help us to help you and we will see you there.”
