CORNISH folklore is about to step out of the shadows and into the light at Trelissick near Truro this October half term, as All Hallows Tide transforms the historic estate into a world of myths, magic and mystery.

Running from October 25 to November 2, this immersive Halloween experience is a collaboration between National Trust and Dark Cornwall, blending eerie legends, stunning artworks and live storytelling to celebrate Cornwall’s darker side.

Visitors will follow a supernatural trail through the gardens and house, encountering figures from ancient folklore - including the Owlman of Mawnan Smith, the fae King and Queen, and a towering sculpture of Morgowr, Cornwall’s mythical sea serpent.

Costumes are encouraged, magic is everywhere, and the wizard Merlin himself will appear to share spellbinding tales from Cornwall’s past.

Jen Pina, property operations manager at Trelissick, said: “Watching the concept imagery develop and come to life has been so exciting. Each myth and legend is full of such creativity, personality and character and we can’t wait for visitors to meet them this All Hallows Tide at Trelissick.”

All Hallows Tide is a celebration of Cornish folklore and creativity as everyone welcomes in ‘Kalan Gwav’, the first days of winter. Dark Cornwall have commissioned local artists to create sculptures, illustrations, and artworks that bring myths and legends to life in the Trelissick estate.

Visitors can dress up in their scariest costume and visit from October 25, picking up a trail sheet that will be a guide and lead people to each of the figures of Cornish folklore. Visitors will greet the Owlman of Mawnan Smith, a Woodwose, and the King and Queen of the fae on your exploration of Trelissick with a supernatural twist.

As well as the trail of sculptures there’ll be wand and mask making activities for families throughout the week, so that people can take the magic and myths home. The legendary wizard Merlin will step through the veil and visit Trelissick on October 30, 31 and November 1 sharing well-known (and some not-so-well-known) tales from across Cornwall at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

Entry to the All Hallows Tide celebrations is included in admission to Trelissick, free for National Trust members. Dogs on short-leads are permitted in the garden, only assistance dogs are permitted in the house.
