A WEEKEND of musical entertainment is being lined up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the reopening of one of Newquay's best loved buildings.

Mount Charles Band and the Ritzy Belles will be performing to mark the relaunch of the Trenance Cottages.

It was a decade ago that the Duke of Kent visited Trenance Heritage Cottages to declare the heritage attraction open to the public.

It followed many years of hard work by the Friends of Trenance Cottages to renovate the Grade II listed building.

The ever-popular Mount Charles Band will be performing outside the cottages on the evening of Friday, September 19. 'Proms in the Park' is a free to enter event and runs from 7pm to 9.30pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and a picnic and the Garden Cafe will be open.

Two days later, on Sunday, September 21, the Ritzy Belles will be taking centre stage with music from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. They ladies will be performing between 2.15 and 3pm and 4.15 and 5pm.

Let Us Entertain You will also feature a top juggler from 3.15 to 4pm, when the grand anniversary raffle will be drawn.

The event is free to enter and the Garden Cafe will be open.

A spokesperson said: “Trenance Cottages are a unique trio of renovated Cornish cottages and the result of Newquay’s biggest ever community-led restoration project.

“Now standing proud in the Trenance Valley, Rose, Middle and Vine Cottage are beautifully renovated, Grade ll listed cottages.

“It is a wonderful achievement to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the reopening of the cottages which now boast a museum, two retail areas, function room and is a regular venue for weddings. What better way than to celebrate with the local community who have played such a big role in our success.”
