Emergency services were scrambled after two people become cut off by the tide in Newquay Bay on Monday afternoon.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked alongside Newquay RNLI Lifeboats to reports of two persons cut off by the tide near Tolcarne Beach at 4.30pm.

The pair were located by Newquay Lifeboat trapped crew in a cove but otherwise uninjured.

The lifeboat crew picked them up and safely dropped them off with coastguard team on the beach for final checks to be carried out.

A Newquay Coastguard spokesman said: “The two were given some advice before heading home.

“Always check the tides and conditions when navigating the coast, if on a lifeguarded beach ask the lifeguards for advice.

“Stay safe.”
