APPLICATIONS are now being accepted from students who want to join the new A-Level courses which will run at the Cornwall College St Austell campus from next September.
The return of A-Level provision to St Austell gives students across the town and surrounding communities a new local option for sixth form study.
The courses are designed for students who are looking for an academic route after GCSEs, whether they already have a clear career in mind or are keeping their options open.
The courses mean there is another choice for young people in the town to consider when deciding what comes after Year 11, without necessarily having to travel further afield.
Anneka Wass, assistant principal for A-Levels at Cornwall College, said: “We are excited to start welcoming applications from local young people who want to take their next step with us.

‘We want students to feel that they have a genuine choice on their doorstep: somewhere they can study subjects they enjoy, aim high and build the confidence and skills they need for whatever comes next.
“We’re really looking forward to growing our A-Level community here in St Austell and welcoming the first cohort in 2027.”
Laetitia Mayne, deputy principal for general further education and head of Cornwall College St Austell, said: “We’re proud to be creating a new A-Level community here in St Austell and giving local young people the opportunity to follow an academic pathway while remaining connected to their community.
“With a broad range of subjects on offer, from fine art, biology and chemistry to maths, English, geography and physics, there is a real breadth of choice for students to explore their interests, aim high and take their next steps close to home.”
MP Noah Law has welcomed the new courses, saying local young people will have greater choice over where they study.
