GREEN-FINGERED pupils at a primary school in Cornwall have been given a boost by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

A project costing £10,000 has seen the installation of raised beds and the provision of gardening equipment at Pondhu Primary School in St Austell.

The project has been funded through a grant from the RHS and additional support from the school’s parent-teacher association, and each year group at the school has taken part in planting sessions.

Headteacher Rachel Clift said: “We’re so proud of the enthusiasm and teamwork shown by our pupils. This garden is not only a wonderful way to learn about nature, science and healthy eating – it also brings joy and a sense of achievement. We can’t wait to see everything grow!”
