TRURO and Penwith College is celebrating its outstanding alumni, who make up half of this year’s prestigious Cornwall Chamber of Commerce 30 Under 30 cohort.
The annual awards celebrate individuals making a significant impact within Cornwall’s business community. Alumni were recognised this year for achievements across many sectors including technology, hospitality, renewable energy and infrastructure.
Among them were Robyn Coatsworth from Mousehole Deli & Kitchen, Christian Dove from software company Hertzian, Florence Tebutt from Naked Solar Ltd and Jack Spittal, who studied on a bespoke programme for Cormac.
Leadership and management lecturer Richie Greenhalgh recognised his award-winning learners’ mindset for success from the outset. “It was clear they represented exactly what we would hope for as ‘future leaders’ shaping the workplace,” he said. “Their willingness to reflect and share ideas and experiences was a real benefit and their participation on the programme offered huge benefits for all other attendees.
“Their achievements reflect the strength of Cornwall’s growing business community, and the important role local education continues to play in developing skilled young professionals who are helping shape the region’s future economy.”
Through strong partnerships with employers across Cornwall, Truro and Penwith College equips students with industry experience, practical skills and professional connections to help them succeed in their chosen careers.
New principal Carl Riding was delighted to present awards on the night, joining business leaders from across the county in celebrating Cornwall’s rising stars.
Hayley McKinstry, director of business partnerships and apprenticeships, attended the awards ceremony. “Congratulations to all the winners, who truly showcased Cornwall’s bright young talent,” she said. “We were especially delighted to see so many former students recognised, reinforcing the college’s commitment to developing local talent and highlighting the exceptional work of our staff, employers and students alike.”
