DRIVERS are being urged to plan their journeys ahead of an upcoming overnight closure on the A30.

At the start of August, National Highways revealed a swathe of upgrades it plans to carry out along the A30. These six-month works are being undertaken in an effort to improve the safety of the road.

Now, as works prepare to get underway, drivers are being urged to plan ahead as overnight closures prepare to come into force in the approaching weeks.

From September 5 to 11, the A30 will be fully closed in both directions between Five Lanes and Kennards House between 9pm and 6am.

Following this, from September 7, the route will be limited to a single lane in each direction during the day, with 40mph and 50mph speed limits in place. National Highways has stated that this single lane closure is set to remain in place until March 2027.

However, this stretch is not the end of the overnight closures, with the same closures planned along the route for September 23 and 30.

Commenting on the works, a spokesperson from National Highways said: “The safety project is scheduled to be completed in the spring, and the installation of traffic management will require full overnight closures (9pm to 6am) of the A30 between Kennards House and Five Lanes, from September 5 to September 10.”
