THE art department at Pool Academy have welcomed professional graphic designer and ceramic artist Lynda Southworth to the school this term as she begins her ‘Artist in Residency’ placement within their expressive arts faculty.
Lynda, who has a deep passion for ceramics, joins the department to support the development of the school’s brand new ceramics studio. Working closely with art teacher Mrs Ellis, she will be helping to inspire students and strengthen the school’s creative provision through hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and collaborative projects.
As part of this initiative, the school has also announced a three-year partnership with the world-renowned Leach Pottery in St Ives. The collaboration will enable greater integration of pottery into the school’s art curriculum, giving students the opportunity to explore the heritage and contemporary practice of ceramics in greater depth.
Students can look forward to seeing Lynda at work in the new clay room and to the launch of an after-school ceramics club, coming soon.
Nick Ward, principal at Pool Academy said:“We’re thrilled to welcome Lynda to our school community and to launch this fantastic partnership with Leach Pottery. This residency marks an exciting step in expanding our creative arts provision and providing our students with new opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves through art.”
