A MAN caught riding his motorcycle at more than twice the speed limit on multiple occasions has been handed a suspended sentence and disqualified from driving for a year.

Barnaby Bowers-Hall, of Kel Avon Close in Truro, admitted to speeding after a fixed camera on Longdowns caught him riding his bike above the 30mph limit 36 times between May 23 and August 2, 2024. On one occasion, he was captured doing 77mph with a passenger riding pillion.

Bowers-Hall 22, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving with no insurance and fraudulent use of a registration mark.

During his appearance at Truro Crown Court on July 30 this year, he was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years; disqualified from driving for 12 months, and ordered to abide by a two-month electronically monitored curfew. He will remain disqualified from driving until he has taken an extended driving test.

The investigation was carried out by the Road Safety Team and Camborne Speed Detection Officers in collaboration with Vision Zero South West, a partnership board whose aim is to cut the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) on Devon & Cornwall’s road network by 50 per cent by 2030.

David Routley, force operations manager in the Road Safety Team, said: "It was clear from Bowers-Hall’s repeated and deliberate breaches of the speed limit that he showed a complete disregard for the safety of other road users and pedestrians.

“Speeding remains one of the leading causes of deaths and serious injuries on our roads, and it is an offence that we will continue to treat seriously and tackle robustly.

“Keeping people safe from harm is at the heart of everything we do, and taking action against careless and dangerous drivers is a key part of our commitment to making our roads safer for everyone.”
