HUNDREDS gathered to watch more than 150 drones dance across the night sky in a stunning display of light, colour and motion set to a bespoke Cornish soundtrack.

The show on Friday, October 10 brought Cornish landmarks and local pride to life above the Truro City Football Club stadium, with carefully choreographed 3D animations and formations that had the crowd cheering and filming from start to finish. Feedback both on the night and online was glowing, with many describing it as “magical” and “something Cornwall has never seen before”.

Jordan Hammond of WAX Events said:“Over the past few years, our events company has grown so much, from taking on Truro City FC, to partnering with XFC to bring the MMA championships to Newquay, to hosting an obstacle course race and more. Now we can proudly add Cornwall’s first public drone show to that list.”

The evening ended on a high with Truro City All-Stars beating the Newquay AFC Legends 3-0, before shanty group Stuns’ls closed the night with a lively set of Cornish sea songs in the fanzone marquee.

All donations and collections from the event were given to Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.

WAX is now preparing for its next major events: fireworks displays at Newquay Sports Centre on November 1 and Truro City Stadium on November 8.
