A community running group which is often seen donning distinctive garb or undertaking unusual challenges have announced their biggest Christmas run yet in aid of charity.

Camelford Up and Running, a community running group that launched in 2016 and has grown exponentially since, has previously undertaken some zany challenges which have included descending on London to run between all the locations on a Monopoly board.

Earlier this year, they celebrated St Piran’s Day, the group decided it would enjoy a Cornish pasty in style – at the highest possible peak above sea level.

Each Christmas, Camelford Up and Running undertake a mammoth task – to run in as many different towns as they can in aid of charity while dressed up for the festive occasion.

This year’s event, which will be held on Sunday, December 13 seeks to raise money for two charities in the form of Children’s Hospice South West and the NSPCC, the latter of which is the chosen charity of Hollie, the daughter of Camelford Up and Running’s founder Matt Allan.

She is also running the 2027 London Marathon in aid of the NSPCC.

Billed as the biggest Christmas run to date, the Camelford Up and Running group will be running across 31 towns in Cornwall and taking a picture next to each of the place’s Christmas trees.

This year’s event will see them visit Bude, Stratton, Launceston, Callington, Saltash, Torpoint, Looe, Liskeard, Lostwithiel, Fowey, St Blazey, St Austell, Penryn, Falmouth, Helston, Porthleven, Marazion, Newlyn, St Just, St Ives, Hayle, Camborne, Redruth, Perranporth, Newquay, St Columb Major, Padstow, Wadebridge and Bodmin before doing their final grand finale mile in Camelford late into the evening.

In each town, the group will run a mile and capture a group photo before going onto the next venue, with their day beginning at 5.45am and finishing at around 11pm.
