A Cornish choir has donated £4,000 to charity following a rousing performance.

Oll an Gwella presented the funds to Cornwall Blood Bikes and Penhaligon’s  Friends during a concert with Restormel Concert Band in St Bartholomew’s Church, Lostwithiel.

The money was raised through donations after staging concerts at various venues as well as through CD sales.

Tony Mills from Oll an Gwella said: “All of the group attended and an excellent concert resulted and, as a bonus, we were able to listen to  the superb musicians of the band perform.

“The evening also provided an opportunity to present donations of £2,000 each to our two main charities; Cornwall Blood Bikes and Penhaligon’s  Friends.

“Brendan accepted for Blood Bikes and Julie and Jill for  Penhaligon’s Friends. Brendan and Jill gave the audience a résumé of their organisations. Since opening our bank account in November 2015 we have, to date, directly  donated in excess of £55,000.  “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in that time through bookings, CD purchases, performance attendance and donations.

“The people of Cornwall can be proud of the support they give to  countless causes.”
