FAMILIES can enjoy a packed programme of activities and entertainment in Truro city centre when Children’s Day returns on Saturday (June 20).

Truro Business Improvement District (BID) has brought together around 30 local businesses and organisations to offer free family-friendly entertainment on Lemon Quay, as well as in-store fun and special offers.

Lemon Quay will be bike central, with spectacular stunt shows, a free obstacle course (bikes and helmets provided), plus a machine for off-roading practice. New for this year is the Doctor Bike area, where kids can bring their bikes for repair.

Cornwall Dance School, Jason Thomas Performing Arts, Stagecoach Performing Arts Truro, Boom Theatre and Just 4 Kids Performing Arts will showcase their performance skills, while children can pick up circus and boxing skills in free have-a-go sessions.

The piazza will host a selection of stalls including arts and crafts, family games, crazy golf and an inflatable slide.

Across the city, you’ll find street entertainment and live music. A large inflatable obstacle course is planned for Boscawen Street, which will also host the weekly Truro Farmers Market to free up space on Lemon Quay.

Truro’s two permanent indoor markets, Lemon Street Market and Pannier Market, will be open as usual and joining in with the fun.

Truro BID Manager Alun Jones said: “We are really looking forward to bringing Children’s Day back to Truro for the ninth year. As well as being a fun celebration, Children’s Day helps to attract residents and visitors to stay longer in the city on the day.”

The main programme will run from 10am until 4pm. Stalls and many shops will open from 9am. Charges may apply on some activities. A full line-up and information about in-store activities and offers will be published a few days prior to the event at www.visittruro.org.uk.
