A member of a Newquay charity is certainly in the zone to help the wider organisation move forward.

Lion Peter Bragg of Newquay Lions Club has become the new chairman of the Lions Zone A, which forms part of Lions Clubs International District 105SW, encompassing six active and community-focused clubs that include Newquay Lions, Newquay Towan Blystra, Truro, Camborne-Redruth, Hayle, and Penzance.

He was officially handed the chain of office by the outgoing chairman Phil Bunt of Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club, which was attended by more than 30 Lions and guests from across Cornwall.

Hosted at the home of one of the Lions, the gathering featured great company, laughter, and freshly baked Cornish pasties.

Lion Phil Bunt, who has served as Zone Chair for the past year, now steps into the wider leadership role of 1st Vice District Governor for District 105SW for the 2025/26 Lions year.

Mr Bunt expressed confidence in the continued collaboration, service, and fellowship that defines the Zone A spirit when he handed over the reins to Lion Peter Bragg.

He said: “It’s been a real privilege to support our six Cornish clubs as zone chair.

“Peter brings great experience and energy to the role, and I know Zone A will continue to thrive under his guidance.”

New Zone Chair Lion Peter Bragg thanked Phil for his service and said he was looking forward to working closely with each club to support their local projects and encourage the growth of Lions across the region.
