A Newquay man is helping a charity make strides after raising £5,445 taking part in the London Marathon.
Lion Phil Bunt, the Newquay Towan Blystra Lions club treasurer and South West District 1st vice district governor, has donated the money towards the Lions Brain Tumour Research Appeal.
The national Lions appeal is working in partnership with Brain Tumour Research to raise £1-million to help fund game-changing research and raise awareness of the impact of brain tumours.
Mr Bunt recently presented £825, which is the final amount raised through sponsorships received after running the London Marathon in April.
He raised an additional £4,620 through his Just Giving page making a total of £5,445 going to the charity.
Past District Governors, Lions Fred and Lesley Broom received the cheque at the District 105SW Governor handover in Cullompton on Sunday, July 27.
Mrs Broom said: “This is such an important appeal the Lions are involved with and with a target to raise £1million, donations like this are so gratefully received.”
