A TRURO-based vandal who caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to vehicles will spend months behind bars after pleading guilty to two offences.

Roger Duque, 39, of St Thomas Close, appeared at Truro Magistrates Court on Thursday [November 13] and was sentenced to six months in prison (reduced to four for an early plea) after admitting to causing over £4,000 worth of criminal damage to two cars.

Duque took to the streets in the early hours of the morning on September 6 and October 31, 2025 to target vehicles parked in residential areas.

The court heard how on one occasion, Duque used a metal tool to cause extensive scratches across several panels on a car, including the bonnet, door and roof. He then went on to cause further damage to another vehicle by puncturing a tyre and inflicting scratches on the driver’s side door.

PS Dave Pearce, who supported the investigation, said: “I welcome this outcome from the court. Our neighbourhood team worked closely alongside the community and partner agencies to secure this conviction.

“We hope this will bring some relief to the local community who have suffered as a result of Duque’s behaviour. Our officers will continue to work with partners and the courts to prevent the reoccurrence of future offending.”

Those affected by criminal damage are urged to report it to the police.
