BOXING sensation Brad Pauls from Newquay will be showing off his new belt at his hometown football club on Easter Monday.

The Newquay Bomb will be staging a meet and greet at the Mount Wise stadium from 1pm ahead of the Peppermints game against Oldland Abbotonians where he will be leading the teams out.

The 32-year-old won the IBF international middleweight title after knocking out the previously undefeated Shakiel Thompson in the ninth round at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester in front of a packed crowd on Saturday, March 28.

The win puts him in contention with a world title shot.

A bout for the vacant IBF world title with Italy's Etinosa Oliha could be an option as the pair are the boxing organisation’s two highest-ranked fighters.

Brad said: “I’m taking the new belt to the game.

“Anyone welcome to come. It will be great to see everyone.

“The belt is a beauty.”

A spokesperson for Newquay Football Club said: ““Brad is a Newquay lad who went out and did something historic for Cornwall, and the fact that his first instinct is to come home and share it with the community he grew up in says everything about him.

“Leading the teams out against Oldland Abbotonians FC on Monday and bringing the belt home to Mount Wise is something no one in the town is going to forget.

“This will be part of match day on Monday so access to the ground will be ticketed and through the ticket gates.

“A big crowd is expected. Get your tickets and get down early.”

“Tickets are available for the match from the website or at the gate.”
