Betty Stogs rides again, with the popular beer mascot setting off on Friday, July 7 to cycle 225 miles to Bristol in the annual Ride for Precious Lives.
The ride is in aid of Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.
Setting off from Little Harbour, Fred Thomas’s mammoth three-day journey will take in CHSW Little Bridge House in Barnstaple followed by the charity’s Charlton Farm site near Bristol.
Fred has already completed 100 miles dressed as Betty, haven taken part in Ride London in May in aid of CHSW.
“This is a new challenge for me as it is going in the opposite direction,” he said. “Everything is uphill, including climbing the iconic Cheddar gorge – no freewheeling this time!
“I appreciate times are hard, so any donation people can give will help me support 150 children with a life-limiting condition that are currently receiving resilience, respite, treatment management and end-of-life care at Little Harbour.”
Fred’s appeal has already smashed its £6,000 target and is currently sitting at just over £9,500. Each £5 will fund 15 minutes of care.
He has set up a JustGiving page called Betty’s Rides in 2023 where people can donate.
