TRURO City have announced the signings of Lirak Hasani and Harry Kite, writes Gareth Davies.
Kite has inked a two-year deal with the Tinners, signing as a free agent, while Hasani joins from National League South side Torquay United and due to his age, Truro will pay a compensation fee to the Step Two Gulls.
Kite came through the ranks at SkyBet League One outfit Exeter City and made his debut in 2017 during an EFL trophy tie with fellow West Country outfit Yeovil Town.
Crediton born, the 24-year-old would go on to make over 100 appearances for the Grecians, and was part of the side which won promotion to the third tier of English football in 2022.
He left St James Park 12 months ago, but suffered a long-term injury before signing for another club. However, after battling back to full fitness, Kite spent the final month of 2024-25 in the National League with Yeovil Town.
“I think it is a great time to come to Truro and I got that feeling after speaking with the manager and the assistant Yettsy,” Kite said.
“It will be a great place for me to continue playing my football and I felt it was a project I really wanted to be involved in – I am glad to be here.
“This is a club that, if you look at their trajectory, is going upwards. I played at Truro’s old stadium with other clubs and if I look at where the club is now, it is a huge stride (forward) in terms of infrastructure and what it is building.
“I know a couple of the boys here and I have played against some of them too, so that should make it easy to gel and bed in with the group.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Hasani, who was born to Kosovan parents in South Yorkshire, came through the ranks at Doncaster Rovers, making his first team debut as a teenager in March 2019.
He enjoyed loan spells at Gateshead, Matlock Town and Bashford United before joining the former on a permanent deal in 2022.
Hasani spent two years in the North East, but his time with the Heed included further loan spells, this time to Boston United, South Shields and Blyth Spartans.
Twelve months ago, Hasani left Gateshead and moved south to Torquay United, where he played a lead hand in the Gulls’ promotion bid, which saw the Devonians miss out on the league title by goal difference to City, before losing in the play-offs to eventual winners Boreham Wood.
“This is a good opportunity to test myself with this team and it is the same for Truro themselves, in the National League.
“I played against Truro last year and they pressed really well and it was always a tough game. Knowing that, the decision to sign here was made easy because the team are aggressive and play on the front foot – something that every player wants to be involved with.”
“I have a willingness to win and have an endeavour to press and run. I love to play with the ball and score goals, so the fans will see anything that helps the team to win.”
