JUST five games took place in the South West Peninsula League Premier West over the weekend.
The bottom four were all in action, but it was St Day who had the best afternoon as the Yellows backed up their 2-0 victory over Millbrook by seeing off fellow strugglers Launceston by the same scoreline.
In a game where chances were at a premium, Jordan Richards slotted in at the backpost midway through the first half before the points were sealed late on when Paul Robertson slotted home on the break.
The East Cornwall derby on Friday night at Millbrook against Dobwalls saw a share of the spoils.
Millbrook failed to pick up a point in September, while the Dingos had lost their last three.
Seventeen-year-old debutant Jack Ssengendo headed Dobwalls in front from Kieran Owen’s ball in, but Josh Toulson equalised before half-time.
Truro City Reserves put in a much-improved display at Camelford, but were beaten 2-1 late on thanks to Mark Gusterson’s goal.
The veteran forward has been turning out for Boscastle so far this term, but agreed to help out and got the late winner. Earlier, Ryan Downing had equalised for the Camels after City took a very lead.
Wendron United backed up their 2-2 draw with Camelford by earning a 3-1 success at high-flying Holsworthy.
The Dron had the wind in their favour in the first half and took advantage as Cam Quirke’s brace following Ryan Reeve’s opener gave them an advantage they never looked like giving up.
Craig Duff pulled one back 15 minutes from time, but the Dron held on for a fifth win of the season.
Falmouth Town Reserves’ dream season continued since promotion as they thrashed Wadebridge Town 5-1 away from home.
Kyle Flew gave the Bridgers an early lead, but efforts from Reece Carroll, Evan Tresidder, Sam Buckley, Jak Davies and Aaron Hicks proved decisive.
