WESTERN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

AFC St Austell 0 Brislington 4

MANAGER Adam Castlehouse has insisted he will not ‘throw in the towel’ at Poltair Park despite the new-look Lillywhites starting the season with eight successive league defeats.

Saturday’s game was all but over by half-time with the visitors – who had arrived more than an hour late after their coach broke down – four goals to the good.

Shea Mannings opened the scoring after 17 minutes, Callum Evans doubled the lead two minutes later and further goals came before the break from Mannings again (34 minutes) and Ollie Williams (42).

The Lillywhites were much improved in the second half but we unable to reduce Brislington’s advantage.

Castlehouse said: “It was another frustrating loss. We were nowhere near the levels required in the first half. We are making far too many of the same mistakes, and credit to Brislington, they punished us. An all too familiar story.

“We had a few honest words at half-time and we came out in the second half with a little more fight. Unfortunately, at 4-0 down though, it turns into damage limitation, rather than an upset.

“I gave credit to the lads for the second half, as it was deserved, but it merely papered over the cracks of what was another disappointing day.

“To the fans, I apologise. I thank you for your support. I want them to know we won’t ‘throw in the towel’ and we will keep working hard to put things right.

“With 30 games of the season to go, we still have time to wise up to the intensity and quality of the opposition we are facing.”
