Bradford Town 4 AFC St Austell 0

ST AUSTELL go into Wednesday’s Cornwall derby against visiting Saltash United at Poltair desperate for a change in fortunes and form after another heavy defeat on Saturday in Wiltshire.

The Lillywhites have lost all 10 league games and have conceded 26 goals in the last five while scoring only once, and there seem few signs of an upturn.

They have already lost 7-0 to Saltash at Kimberley Stadium this season.

Ironically they made a positive start to Saturday’s game but found themselves a goal behind in the 13th minute when a defensive mix-up allowed Josiah McKayle to fire home from close range, giving keeper Mike Williams no chance.

For much of the remainder of the first half St Austell gave as good as they got, but crucially they conceded again just before the break with Jensen Wakefield breaking through a square defence to score with a confident finish.

The Lillywhites needed a positive start to the second half but found themselves 3-0 down inside three minutes as Wakefield was in the right place again to sweep home a low shot after a cross from wide out evaded several defenders.

A poor challenge by midfielder Billy Coton on Jack Coward, which earned him a second yellow card, led to St Austell being reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute.

Things then went from bad to worse seven minutes later substitute Charlie Maddison completed the scoring when he rose unchallenged to head in a corner.

AFC ST AUSTELL: Mike Williams, Theo Roberts, Josh Mills, Lucas Kaye, James Baker, Billy Coton, Billy Eccles, Charlie Castlehouse, Jake Harris, Sam Lang, Lewie Rendle. Subs: Matthew Pilkington, Jack Clarke, Jacob Hobson, Cody Jones.
