Millbrook 1 Liskeard Athletic 2
Skipper Dylan Peel scored four minutes from time at Jenkins Park on Tuesday night to send Liskeard through to their first Cornwall Senior Cup semi-finals in many years.
The tie looked to be heading for extra time when Peel fired in a low shot from Jarrad Woods' 86th minute corner.
The big centre half had also scored Liskeard's first goal, a towering header from a Woods free kick in the 41st minute, to cancel out Tylor Love-Holmes' opener for Millbrook in the seventh minute.
The big talking point in the crowd before kick-off was the make up of Liskeard's team, with former Millbrook keeper Sam Borthwick in goal, Torpoint's Ryan Richards in attack and Barnstaple striker Stuart Bowker on the bench.
The trio all signed registration forms for Liskeard on the day of the game and for two of them it was a reunion after last playing for the club more than 10 years ago.
Recruiting them so quickly had much to do with Darren Gilbert stepping up from coaching the Liskeard reserves to helping out with the first team.
Those of a Millbrook persuasion were heard to mutter about 'ringers' being brought in by the visitors for a big cup tie and some were trying to work out how many different teams Richards has played for this season against them.
But when the action started, Borthwick could do nothing about Love-Holmes' right footed piledriver which gave Millbrook the early advantage, only a minute after home keeper Chris Wearing had denied Richards from close range.
Joe Johnson had a chance to double the lead in the 22nd minute with a rasping low shot but Borthwick was equal to it with a fine save.
Harvey Mullis was denied an equaliser in the 32nd minute when his shot towards an unguarded net took a slight deflection and ended inches the wrong side of the post.
But Liskeard's pressure paid off nine minutes later when Peel, up from his defensive duties for a free kick, rose to send his header over Wearing into the far corner.
Liskeard introduced Bowker for the second half, replacing the injured Matt Outtram, and the visitors played three up front, with central striker Dan Jennings moving to a wide right role.
But even with Jennings, Bowker and Richards in attack, Liskeard created few clear chances and they were indebted to Borthwick for producing two excellent saves as the tie moved into the last 10 minutes.
Millbrook looked the more likely to snatch a winner but a break from Liskeard earned a corner and Peel did the rest.
