BRITANNIA INN HAWKEY CUP QUARTER-FINAL ROUND-UP

SKIPPER Alex Bone continued his sensational form with a rapid 92 as St Austell set up a semi-final with neighbours Grampound Road.

The wicket-keeper’s 43-ball knock in a partnership of 135 with brother Gary rescued the Saints from 49-3 as they eventually racked up 205-8.

Lanhydrock got off to a fine start as Steve Raven, Thevindu Dickwella and Mike Bone all departed cheaply, before the Bones regrouped.

Alex’s 43-ball knock contained 15 fours and two sixes, while Gary’s 55 from 34 deliveries saw eight fours and a six.

Jacob Eldridge enjoyed some late reward as he took 4-23 from his four overs, while Ben Attfield (1-25) and Christian James (2-31) also had good evenings.

Lanhydrock’s reply never got going as they closed on just 84-9 from their 20 overs as Bone rang the bowling changes.

Matt Lloyd took 2-14 from his four overs, while Andrew Libby (2-7) and Connor Cooke (2-19) also took braces.

They will face Grampound Road in the last four after they saw off St Austell Seconds by seven wickets.

Opener James Carter played a blinder for the Saints as he smashed 10 fours and three sixes in his 67 from just 35 balls.

But bar 23 from Martyn Bevins and Jack Mallet’s 20, the innings failed to kick on as they posted a competitive 141-9.

Antony Angove took 3-30, while Tom Fox-Dean (1-18 off 4) was miserly in the middle.

It was game on with the Road at 34-2 with openers Dave Hoskings and Angove both out to Tom Rosevear (2-32), but Ravi Karunarathna’s 57 not out guided them home as he found perfect support from Tom Orpe (20) and Chris Roberts (32no).

The other semi-final will see Callington, who beat Werrington by 100 runs, welcome Wadebridge who were handed a walkover by St Minver.
