Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League County Division One round-up – Saturday, May 17
HAYLE remain the only side with a 100% record in the division after thrashing West Cornwall rivals Paul at The Towans.
Former county all-rounder Dan Lello struck 115 from 123 balls in their 50-over total of 248-6.
He shared in stands of 50 with Stephen Richards who later took 2-8 from 10 overs, and 88 with Tony Riggall (26no).
Paul were far from full strength and capsized to 41 all-out.
Lello took 2-23 with the new ball but it was Ronnie Shelton who ran through the lower order on the way to figures of 5-4 off just 4.1 overs.
Camborne are 10 points behind after thrashing previously unbeaten Newquay by 198 runs at Warrior Park.
Cornwall’s Alfie MacDonald led the way with 95 and with with Josh Fontana (50) and Danuka Dilshan (76) providing perfect support, they racked up 279-4.
Aussie Toby Chillingworth (2-31) proved difficult to get away.
Newquay reached 51-2 with Tommy Rodda (20) and Adam Cocking (22) both making starts, but from there they slipped to 81 all-out with off-spinner Dan Stephens taking 5-22.
Ben James struck 160 as champions Beacon thrashed St Austell Seconds by 165 runs at Tolcarne Road.
The skipper struck 18 fours and eight sixes in his 137-ball knock which only came to an end when he was run-out by James Carter.
Sam James (39), Callum Edgcombe (37) and Jordan Thomas (52) were all in the runs as they reached 316-2 before a flurry of late wickets saw them dismissed for 343.
Carter was the pick of the attack with 4-65 while Jack Mallet (3-36) got some late reward.
The Saints made 178 all-out in reply as after openers Archie Connolly (23) and James Pook (18) got starts, Ryan Bennetts (32), Qasim Jamal (40) and Tom Rosevear (29) got stuck in.
Jordan Thomas (2-32) and Emily Edgcombe (2-30) did much of the early work before James rounded off an unforgettable day with 3-14 from just 3.4 overs.
Roche remain the only side without a victory as they were beaten by 156 runs at promoted Perranporth.
The home side eased past St Erme on home soil on the opening day and were again amongst the runs as they recovered from 153-7 to post 253-8.
Number seven Russell Milsom made a crucial 58 not out in a vital stand of 79 with Tyler Murrell (17).
Earlier, skipper Harry Watkins (54) and Bryn Evans (45) got in without kicking on as off-spinner Shaun Trudgeon (3-45) and Stewart May (2-46) shared five wickets.
Roche’s batting has been a struggle so far and were dismissed for just 97 having reached 37 without loss.
Only Ryan Clark (22) and James Hunkin (29) passed 20 as the Murrells – Tyler (4-20) and Muzz (3-18) shared seven wickets after James Hall (3-27 off 10) started the collapse.
St Erme won by 40 runs at Falmouth.
Despite 47 from Sam Townsend, the visitors were in trouble at 137-8 before Cornwall Over 50s captain Sean Hooper (30no) added a vital 44 with Tom Bunt (19) to help them reach 187 all-out.
With the ball it was the Kyle Van Rooyen show as the seamer took 5-27.
Only skipper Aidan Carter (32) and Adrian Noott (39no) got going for the hosts who earlier saw Perran Burley, Isaac Hurtel-Hymans and Rhys McGowan take braces.
