Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League County Division One round-up – Saturday, July 26

CAMBORNE continued to keep the pressure on leaders Beacon as openers Josh Fontana and Dan Stephens put on a 222-run stand during their 232-run victory over St Austell Seconds.

They piled up a massive 336-4 with Fontana making 151 and Stephens 90.

The Saints mustered just 104 all out having been 23-6. Dan Hocking (3-10) and Jacob MacDonald (3-12) shared six wickets.

Beacon remain a point ahead after a 100-run home victory over bottom side St Erme.

Jordan Thomas made 67 in the hosts’ 227 all out as Kyle Van Rooyen took 4-25.

Van Rooyen made 34 but the visitors had no answer as Thomas (3-14), Callum Edgcombe (3-18) and Chris Terrill (3-41) took three apiece.

Paul produced a superb performance to see off Falmouth and move seven points clear of second bottom Roche who were comfortably beaten.

Ross Williams (66) and Ben Brooks (73) made half centuries in their 224-8 as Isaac Hurtel-Hymans (3-39) and Perran Burley (3-41) got some reward.

Opening bowler Michael Fitchett then led the way with 4-31 as the hosts were dismissed for 156, while fellow seamers Damon Nicholls (2-42) and Callum Donnelly (2-22) provided fine support.

Roche travelled to third-placed Hayle with several out and were hammered by seven wickets.

Roche could only muster 85 in 32.5 overs as only Oscar Green (19), Reuben Trethewey (11) and George Oakley (11) reached double figures against a home attack which saw change bowlers Steve Richards (3-21) and Nate Wiggins (4-22) share seven wickets.

The hosts were led home by Dan Lello (22no) and Richards (29no) despite Tyler Trudgeon’s 2-32.

The Clay Country outfit sit three points adrift of third bottom St Austell Seconds who they welcome on August 9, but are 12 clear of St Erme.
