AS your dedicated Reform UK Cornwall councillor, I am committed to championing the needs of our community with determination and pragmatism. Over recent months, I have been actively engaging with residents and businesses to address pressing local concerns, ensuring Fowey, Tywardreath, and Par remain vibrant and well-served.
One of my key initiatives has been the campaign to reinstate bins at Readymoney Beach. Recognising the importance of a clean and welcoming environment, I launched a petition to urge Cornwall Council to act, collecting over 500 signatures so far, often visiting the beach and local businesses like the Readymoney Beach Shop to gather support. My goal is to reach 1,000 signatures to strengthen our case. Despite challenges in negotiations with the council, I remain steadfast in advocating for this essential improvement.
I am also delighted to report progress on the reopening of Tywardreath Hill, closed for over five years. Since taking office, I have persistently pressed Cornwall Council to prioritise this vital route and I can confirm that works are scheduled to commence on September 8, with completion expected within 12 weeks. This is a significant win for our community’s connectivity and accessibility.
Furthermore, I have been working with businesses in Fowey on the summer pedestrianisation scheme. After receiving feedback about potential job losses, I engaged directly with affected businesses and lobbied the council. The pedestrianisation plan was successfully activated in July, safeguarding local commerce and enhancing the town’s appeal.
These achievements reflect Reform UK’s commitment to practical, results-driven action. I will continue to listen, act and deliver for Fowey, Tywardreath and Par, ensuring our community thrives.
