OVER the past month, I’ve been busy engaging with our community, attending meetings and building relationships with parish councillors across St Mewan and Grampound. It’s been a privilege to connect with residents and tackle local issues head on.
One rewarding case involved residents unable to access their driveway due to fly-tipping. After swift action, I resolved the issue, much to their relief. It’s these practical outcomes that drive my work as your councillor.
I attended my first planning committee at County Hall, where I spoke against a proposed development due to concerns over access. Despite my objections, the committee approved the plans, but I’ll continue to scrutinise decisions that affect our community’s character and safety.
On July 18, I met with highways department representatives in Hewas Water/Sticker to address persistent speeding problems. Tragically, a cat was recently killed, another badly injured, and residents are understandably upset.
Highways staff agreed to work out a plan of action to tackle this problem and also suggested residents call 101 Operation Snap if they need to report dangerous driving incidents.
I’ve also been working tirelessly on a heartbreaking case involving a family facing eviction. We worked very closely together and focused on all the points in law, and I am pleased to report that this family is now allowed to continue living in their home. I’m doing everything in my power to support them going forwards and believe that no family should face such uncertainty.
As a Reform UK councillor, my focus remains on listening to residents, challenging poor decisions and delivering common sense solutions.
I’m here to represent you, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your concerns or ideas for our community.
