LOCAL historian, photograph collector and Voice reader Barrie Doney has no shortage of pictures and stories from Cornwall’s past, which he shares with Voice Newspaper readers every week.

This week’s photograph shows ever so slightly overgrown with ivy and trees.

Barrie says of this photograph: “A very early photo of Restormel Castle. This was taken many years ago when the castle was overgrown with ivy and surrounded by trees right up to its entrance.

“This was all cleared when it was decided to save it and clean it all up so that the public could view it before it deteriated to a pile of rubble.”
