LOCAL historian, photograph collector and Voice reader Barrie Doney has no shortage of pictures and stories from Cornwall’s past, which he shares with Voice Newspaper readers every week.

This week’s photograph shows an image from the 1950s.

Barrie says of this photograph: “Just below the King Harry Ferry crossing in Feock, can be found the area of the river that ships no longer in service can be tied up. This photo is from around the mid 1950's and 14 ships are tied up out of service. It was the cheapest place in the whole of the country for laying up ships. “
