THE annual week-long fright-fest held in Newquay will get underway in fang-tastic style with the town’s most terrifying tradition.

The Zombie Crawl is set to be bigger, louder and scarier than ever before on Saturday, October 25.

There will be an all-new schedule of free family workshops, pop-up performances and a special guest, Titan the Robot.

The world-famous mechanical marvel, originally created in Newquay, will drip feed the crowds thrills and chills with mighty music, creepy comedy and scary surprises throughout the day.

Visitors and families are invited to get fully Zombie-fied with a whole host of wicked workshops across the town from 11am, which will help make the ultimate transformations alongside fun activities for all ages. These include frightful face painting, pumpkin carving, wounds workshops, circus skills and spooky story times.

A terrifying Titan the Robot will thrill crowds on the Killacour, in the Lighthouse cinema in the case of bad weather, from 1.30pm to 2pm.

A series of pumpkin carving workshops will take place at Project 83 in Wesley Yard and a wound-making session at Concho Lounge, Bank Street will help bring wannabe zombies to life from 11am to 2pm.

Talented face painters will be making pretty faces petrifying at the Lighthouse Cinema, Saltsheds on Beach Road, Choukette on Bank Street and Saltd at the Train Station from 11am to 2pm.

There will be a banner and zombie outfit making workshop at Ralph’s in Fore Street from 11.30am to 1.30pm and spooky story time sessions will tingle spines at Newquay Library from 11am until 1pm and at Clemo Books from 12pm.

The Killacourt will play host to a fun-filled circus skills workshop from 11.30am to 1.30pm, which is weather dependant. Titan the Robot will take over from 1.30pm.

Vibrant street entertainment will take place throughout the day across Central Square, Marcus Hill, the Post Office and Station Parade, featuring Bounce Dance Academy, 4 Motion, Cornwall Theatre School and Hotch Potch street performers. In the case of wet weather, these will take place under the cover of Whiskers on Gover Lane.

Thousands of affected Zombies, including lifeguards, pirates and pop stars, will gather at Station Parade on Cliff Road to join the horror show at 3pm. They will be shuffling, groaning and crawling their way through the wicked wasteland of Newquay’s main street, ending at Sainsburys in Alma Place at around 4pm.

The trail will culminate in spooky after-parties and discos across town, which are due to be announced.

Throughout the half term week, visitors can enjoy the Spooky Halloween Trail around town, with shops and businesses decking out their windows and teams in ghoulish style. Trenance Park will once again host the Spooky Trenance Trail, ensuring the eerie excitement stretches beyond the town centre. Local businesses are also offering “monster deals” all week long.

Love Newquay + Newquay BID manager, Mark Warren, said: “The Zombie Crawl is unlike anything else in Cornwall. It’s a chance for the whole community, families and visitors alike, to take over the town in the best and scariest way possible. Last year’s event brought thousands into Newquay, offering a bumper boost for businesses and the atmosphere was electric. This year we’ve packed in even more workshops, performers and we’ve even roped in Titan the Robot to make it the biggest and best Crawl yet. If you haven’t experienced a Spooky Newquay Zombie Crawl yet, you really need to come and get stuck in.

“The Spooky Newquay Zombie Crawl is more than just a family day out – it’s a major boost for local businesses. Shops, cafés, restaurants, and attractions are encouraged to get involved by hosting workshops, offering special ‘Spooky Newquay’ half-term deals, and even putting on after-dark discos to keep the fun going well into the evening. This is a completely free family event that we are working to make the biggest Halloween celebration in Cornwall – and maybe even the South West.”

Spooky Newquay has been organised by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) with support from Experience Newquay on behalf of Cornwall Council’s Good Growth Fund. The Zombie Crawl is supported by local businesses, residents, and visitors alike, and has quickly become one of the most eagerly anticipated community events of the year.

Experience Newquay is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It aims to support a resilient year-round visitor economy and highlight Newquay’s unique identity. It provides support in training, cultural curation, marketing, and impact evaluation, aiming to attract both local and national visitors sustainably. With this investment, the festival is set to rejuvenate Newquay’s town centre and support local enterprises.
