Bodriggy Academy staff and children in Hayle were devastated to find that two wheels had been stolen from one of the school’s mini buses.
The bus is a key to the education for young children and police have made an appeal to catch the two thieves.
On Sunday, January 29, at 1.30pm in broad daylight two males arrived outside the school in a white double cabbed transit style pick-up van.
One male scaled the gates/fencing of Bodriggy Academy and stole the wheels passing them over to the male on the other side, within just 10 minutes they left undetected.
A member of public was seen to walk down Humphry Davy Lane and could have seen the offence taking place, also a gold-coloured car drove up the hill past the school at the same time and may have witnessed the offence.
If you saw or heard anything or have doorbell footage of a similar vehicle in the area at the time, contact the police on 101, call or email quoting reference 50230023596.
Meanwhile, the ex-chair of governors of the school Stuart Rotman has set up a GoFundMe page to help fund the cost of buying replacement wheels.
He said: “Please help me raise the money to replace the wheels of the minibus which helps to take children to school in the mornings, on educational visits and trips.
“School budgets are extremely tight and I know we can make a difference as a community. Let’s get the show back on the road for our children.”
